Rotakids is recognised globally and children under 12 years (all over the world) have joined to make a positive difference to their community.
Rotakids at Petteril Bank work as a team to raise money for those less fortunate than themselves, help others and look after their environment. During the summer term 2018, children in Year 4 and Year 5 applied for positions in the group and were later interviewed.
We also have 9 other pupils that form the committee.
This school year the children have worked together on a project called Mary’s Meals. The idea behind this is to fill backpacks with equipment and items to to enable children to go to school in countries less fortunate than the U.K. Rotakids set themselves a target to fill eight back packs. However, they succeeded this and more, filling 11 backpacks.
Currently the children are involved in a competition with other Rotakids in and around Carlisle. They are creating a banner to promote good health. The banners will be displayed during Carlisle’s ‘Health MELA’ day which will be held in the centre of town on Saturday 14th May 2016. The aim of this day, is to promote healthy living and lifestyles for those in the community.
