Our Class Teacher is Miss Batty.
What class do you teach/work in?
Year 4
How long have you worked at Petteril Bank Primary School?
This is my 2nd year at PB as an ECT.
What would the children be surprised to find out about you?
You probably wouldn’t guess it, but I’m a bit of an adventurer! I’ve abseiled down the Civic Centre, cuddled a baby orangutan in Borneo, and even swam with dolphins and sharks in Florida! Who knows what the next adventure will be?
What makes a ‘good’ day at Petteril Bank Primary School?
A good day for me is walking into school and being greeted by beaming faces, from the staff I work with to the children around school. Knowing that we’re creating an environment where everyone feels happy, safe and comfortable, and seeing how we all work together to make that happen, is what makes me happiest.
What is the best thing about being a teacher?
The best thing about being a teacher is seeing that moment when something finally clicks for a child. That look of pride, surprise and excitement on their face, when we look at each other and realise together, “I can do this!”, those are the moments that make teaching so special.
What wisdom would you pass on to the children in your class?
My dad would always tell me, “As long as you know you’ve tried your hardest, that’s all that matters.” That’s something I carry with me as a teacher and something I ask of my children too.
Things to remember:
- Water bottles – these can be filled up in school during the day.
- Practise TTRS as often as you can.
- Make sure you read 5 times a week. This will help you ‘be the best you can be’.
