Our Teacher is Mrs Chapman
What is your role in school?
Class teacher
How long have you worked at Petteril Bank Primary School?
I began working at Petteril Bank in September 2023 and just love it here! I have been a teacher for many years and started my career in Moorside Community Primary School in Newcastle. I then move to Carlisle and have worked at Bishop Harvey Goodwin, Scotby and Tebay Primary Schools. (Don’t tell the rest but Petteril Bank is the best!)
What would the children be surprised to find out about you?
The children in my class have heard lots of stories about my experiences growing up but may be surprised to hear that my secondary school didn’t have any boys and some of our lessons were taught by nuns! What’s even more surprising is that in 2024 it still is an all-girls school.
What makes a ‘good’ day at Petteril Bank Primary School?
A ‘good’ day at Petteril Bank is when we have the opportunity to do something new or different such as swimming, trips out, press pause days, watching a live show or listening and learning from visitors to school.
What is the best thing about being a teacher?
The best thing about being a teacher is without a doubt that moment when a child has mastered a new skill and beams with pride at what they have achieved.
What wisdom would you pass on to the children in your class?
Well my mum always used to say ‘ treat people how you would like to be treated yourself’ and my dad would say ‘if you try hard at school you can be anything you want to be’. So I would like to share the wisdom of these two wonderful people.
